Roadtrip: WA to MN - Yellowstone

DAY TWO

Before I get to the Yellowstone pics, allow me to introduce my travel companion (besides my Ford Focus):

9-09 022

His name is Oulie (pronounced ooh-lee) Hey, I didn't name him! That was my Alaska co-worker Stevan. He gave me Oulie for the trip home and my assigned mission was to take pictures of him wherever I went. That's fine, but I made him pull his weight and as you can see above he took his turn behind the wheel when I got tired. He also tried to hog the string cheese Stevan gave me:

Cheese-hogger!

In order to make the long trip home somewhat exciting I.. err.. we took a detour through Yellowstone National Park.

Proof that Oulie was there:

There were many, many semi-tame elk just lounging around near the visitor center:

And some not-so-tame elk out in the wild. This bull elk had a whole harem to himself and he seemed to rule the ladies with an iron hoof.

Sorry for the poor quality of these photos, it was near sunset in low-light conditions and the elk were off in a distant field so it's grainy and blurry. (I need a better camera!)

Blog Title Change and Update

Hi Everyone,

Long time, no see, no write!
I still don't have internet but I thought I'd check in while I'm at the library. Due to relocation I've once again changed the title of the blog. It was "From Washington, With Love" and now it's "Diary of a Nomad". You'll soon see why that name is fitting.

The road trip from Washington to Minnesota was eventful and I'll start posting pics as soon as I get a chance. I've been here in Minnesota for a little over a month now and it's a nice, slow pace of life living "off the tar" as my mom says. She has 8 acres across from a cornfield in a Minneapolis suburb. Except I think the field had beans this year, they rotate crops. Anyway, my point is I'm back to a sort of country way of living and it's refreshing. When I'm not job-hunting I've been taking long walks, reading a ton of books, and even writing my own novel. I might be sharing an excerpt on here soon.

This week I found a job as a PCA (Personal Care Attendant) and it's once again taking me out of state. I leave for Arizona on 10/15/09. Less than a week! It's exciting, but then I'm no stranger to adventure, this is right up my alley. I've already looked into the hiking trails, state parks, and national parks surrounding Phoenix and as soon as I have free time I will get out there with my camera and hopefully have lots of cool photos to share with you. I'll be staying there through the winter at least, possibly longer depending on how it goes and whether or not I miss MN by then. Maybe I'll end up giving it a year and a half like I did in WA, that should be enough time to see and do lots.

Well, that's all for now. Stay tuned for pics from the WA-MN roadtrip as well as pics from the MN-AZ roadtrip, and maybe a little excerpt from the novel I'm writing. (I can tell you are on the edges of your seats!)

So long for now,
~ Angela
