History

This was the first blog I ever had and I created it to document everything up to and including a major life change for me. After being born and raised in Minnesota and never having so much as visited the state of Washington, I up and moved there in 2008 at the age of 32. The original title of the blog was "Clueless in Seattle" and this was the background image I used for the header:

Here's post that started it all:
Testing, Testing, 1,2,3...

Once I got settled in the Seattle area I didn't want to stop writing. In fact, it felt as though the real blog-worthy stuff was just beginning. I took ferry rides, road trips, hiking trips...all manner of expeditions discovering this beautiful new landscape and its people. So I kept the blog but changed the title:

Now, the blog became a way of documenting my adventures and sharing them with the folks back home. Inspired by my beautiful new home, my love of photography and the outdoors quickly grew and the blog content became heavily centered around that. So I changed to a blog template that allowed me to display large photos.  The look of the blog was now completely unrecognizable from its original design.

For Christmas 2008 I decked it all out with holiday spirit. This was the header:

After spending about a year and a half in Washington, I packed up and headed back home for various reasons. But mostly because I was broke! It's hard to support yourself on your own out there, the cost of living is high and the sucky economy wasn't helping any. Soon after I got home, I almost moved to Phoenix for work. I drove out there but decided it wasn't for me and drove back after a week in the blistering 100 degree heat. I was back in Minnesota, jobless, crashing with my parents, directionless, and in need of a new name for the blog, so I chose "Diary of a Nomad". I'm hanging my hat on that one, it's the final title change. Wherever my life's journey may take me, I'll always be a nomad at heart! I continue to update the blog when I feel like it, because I enjoy it and I like having an easy way to look back on where I've been. Sometimes family and friends and even a few strangers stop by and take a look, but I've never tried to drive traffic here, win any popularity contests, or make money off it. I'm more of a loner than anything, just doing this for fun.
