Down in the Valley

Valley so low...

This morning I spent a couple of hours in the country. The valley where Kent and Auburn lie used to be nothing but beautiful farm land before the urban sprawl. Luckily a sampling of that simple farming community still exists a few miles from my apartment.

Today I went back to that 8 mile stretch of lovely country road leading up to Flaming Geyser State Park. It was a good opportunity to play around with my new camera :)
Along the road you see pumpkin patches, serene pastures and meadows, corn fields, colorful flower gardens with giant blooms, as well as hand-made wooden signs saying 'Fresh Cut Flowers' or 'Fresh Vegetables and Fruit'. I stopped to walk a nature trail along the way but my walk was cut short by rain. It rained most of the day but tomorrow is supposed to be clearer so I'll make another trip, of course.

Yes, more spiderwebs. I'm still not a fan of the creepy crawlies but they are everywhere out here so I'm just getting used to them. They don't freak me out like they used to, unless they are crawling on me. *shiver*
Above: This little guy spins a web a lot like I crochet.

Yes, another forest slug. I can't help it, it's incurable.

Ya'll come back now, ya hear!
